FACES BEHIND THE PLACES

Jarrad Mutton the new manager of Bompas

Jarrod Mutton

There has been a lot of dust flying and action at Bompas over the last few weeks with a total face lift underway. Jarrad and Geoff have been busy guys, working on a larger job than perhaps expected but that tends to happen when you start a reno. Jarrad is a new face in town and loaded with ideas to make Bompas a happening place to eat, drink and hang out.

Jarrad how did you come to take on the management role at Bompas and what is your background in the industry?

When the opportunity to manage Bompas came up I knew it was the right fit for me and right time to come back to the industry after a year break. I'm originally from Port Pirie and have been living in Mt Gambier for the past 4 years, managing The Gambier Hotel. Im really looking forward to building Bompas back up into a family friendly boutique Hotel with a strong focus on quality food matched with quality service. We'll be presenting a place where everyone feels welcome. A place to celebrate special occasions or just a night out with friends and family.

What should people expect to see and experience at the 'new look' Bompas

People can expect to see a freshly renovated cafe, restaurant and bar. We don't want to give away too much at this stage but people can expect to see a new breakfast menu. Our main focus is on using local food, wine and produce through our menu's. Oh and yes we will have a cocktail menu!

Can you tell us a little about the new Chef and what food will be available?

We are very excited to have as our head chef, Justin Williams who has spent the past 5 years working in a Coonawarra winery. Prior to this he was working in the McLaren Vale region. Justin is enthusiastic in supporting locally grown produce and businesses, highlighting the Limestone Coast and what it has to offer. Serving a bistro style breakfast and lunch focusing on a modern Australian cuisine.

Will there still be accommodation available at Bompas?

Yes accommodation will definitely still be available. Upstairs in having a much needed makeover with fresh carpets, pillow top king beds, new fixtures etc. It will be a great accommodation option for people staying in Beachport.

When will Bompas be open for business?

We are aiming to be functioning by August.

The new vibe at Bompas is going to be loved by the locals and all who visit Beachport that's for sure. We wish Jarrad and all involved the very best.
